City Hall Public Hearing Update

Hello Everyone,

I have been informed that the City has received correspondence from Chesapeake withdrawing their request for permit of the Callejo H1 and H2 drill site. This means the action before the City Council is rescinded and removed from the agenda for the Council meeting next week, February 10th.

It was stated that Chesapeake is working through the issues of determining a new site. The person I spoke with couldn't elaborate but thought the new site would be outside 800 feet of our homes. Once the new site is named a new request for permit is required and a new Public Hearing will be scheduled.

I expressed that I felt the majority of the residents would be pleased with Chesapeake's moving the drill site. I went on to stress that the city would still need to put conditions on the new drill site:

  • Drill site access only from SH 121.
  • Tighter sound restrictions, 5db over ambient daytime and 3db over ambient nighttime.
  • All site development and loud sound work can only be performed in daytime hours.
  • Increased site beautification with 8 foot ornamental masonry screening.

I will continue to watch for the developments on the new drill site. I will notify the members of the Coppell Westside Gas Coalition as information comes available. It is possible Chesapeake may have the request for permit done by the March Council meeting but my feeling is more like April.

Kind regards,
Roy Ross
