In July of 2008, land leasing professionals, representing various energy companies, actively began soliciting mineral leases from individual homeowners in selected sections of Coppell. As a result of this initiative, the Coppell Westside Gas Coalition (CWGC) was formed. The CWGC is a voluntary association of concerned citizens who are seeking to negotiate fairly valued mineral lease terms using community based collective bargaining methods.

Our key objectives are to:
  • Protect the asset value and quality of life of our community
  • Receive fair market compensation for leasing of minerals
  • Work with energy companies to expedite well drilling once leases are awarded

Membership in the coalition is open to all Coppell homeowners who reside within the area of land reachable by horizontal wells drilled from a proposed surface drilling site located in the open field bordered by Sandy Lake Road, Coppell Road North, and Hwy 121.

Homeowners in the neighborhoods listed below can officially join the coalition by signing a one page registration agreement. While this document is legally non-binding to protect the voluntary nature of the coalition, it is a strongly symbolic gesture of community unity and support.
